Was it the wet hands or humidity?
Hot temperatures, the ocean, and plenty of rain make for humid conditions.
Moving to a tropical location you expect it to be humid. What we weren’t expecting was all of that moisture lingering inside of our home.
Our home is equipped with jalousie windows which are essentially glass shutter blinds that never completely close. They are great for letting in the wonderful breezes, not so great for keeping out sounds, smells, and all that moisture.
Shortly after moving in, our salt and pepper grinder started smelling weird. Robert noticed what looked like sauce but was in fact rust around the seams. We thought it was from my hands being damp while cooking but even after cleaning it and making sure my hands were completely dry, it was still getting worse.
In the hopes that switching to wood grinders would help with our “not wet-hands-rust actually humidity-rust” I went to my beloved Amazon for a solution.
After searching options and comparing reviews and prices I settled on these wood grinders for only $15. The color variation makes it easy to recognize which is salt or pepper at a glance. They are eight inches tall which is helpful since it’s easier to use a larger grinder, especially with my massive hands.
The biggest bonus is the only parts that are metal are the very base of the grinder and the bolt holding on the top. Hopefully this set holds up better in our tropical home!
