Short People Showers
The people who occupied our condo before we moved in must have been incredibly height-challenged.
Robert and I are fairly average height, both around five and a half feet. But this shower head, it was just ridiculous. I mean look at this...
I’ve had to bend down to rinse the top of my head in short showers before, but this was a shower only made possible by constant squats. My legs couldn’t handle that. Especially with how long it takes to rinse my hair.
We already had decided we wanted to update the bathroom with oil-rubbed bronze fixtures but couldn’t find anything locally that we liked for the shower head.
Amazon to the rescue!!! We found a new connecting arm, a ten-inch extension arm, and a rainfall showerhead which were all delivered to our front door within a few days.
After disconnecting the old shower head (it just twisted off), we used two sets of wrenches and wrapped a towel around the old arm to twist and loosen it for removal. Then we wrapped the threading on the new arm with thread seal tape before twisting it into place by hand and then using the same wrench method to fully tighten. We then used the same process to add the extension arm and put the shower head in place.
In hindsight we should have wrapped the towel a few more times around the new arm because the wrenches scuffed the finish a little bit. But it’s only noticeable if you know to look for it.
Look at that before and after!! It’s amazing how much a difference such an inexpensive upgrade can make to the entire room.
